Beach of La Barreta

Located on the outskirts of the town of Altea, and forming a kind of small bay alongside Marina Greenwich is Playa de La Barreta. A beautiful beach of pristine water which is the perfect place for a peaceful dip in the sea

La Barreta beach, some 4 kilometres from the village of Altea, has a rustic appearance, and is used mainly by the locals of this fishing district.

It is some 100 metres in length and made up of pebbles, and together with its clean water this makes it ideal for such watersports as diving, as even if the sea is rough and full of seaweed, La Barreta is protected by the harbour and a rocky outcrop, creating a clear, safe area from which to view the amazing seabed.

Very close by, meanwhile, in the harbour, there are bars and restaurants such as "Saltea", where diners can enjoy a wonderful meal with views of the port.

One curiosity is that the physical location of this small beach lies exactly on the Greenwich meridian 00º 00' 00" used to measure longitudes all around the globe.

Type SEMIURBAN BEACH
Composition SAND / GRAVEL
